The minor boy had sustained grievous injuries in his left hand after he was attacked by a brick kiln owner in January this year at Khandeyarnepali under Sedam police station limits of Gulbarga district in Karnataka where he and his family members were working as migrant labourers.

“The doctors have asked me to come to the hospital after three months for another surgery on my left hand after which it would be completely functional. They have also advised me to do the physiotherapy”, an elated Sushant told newsmen here soon after he was discharged from the hospital.sushant

The apprehension that Sushant’s arm would need to be amputated was allayed after doctors successfully conducted nail and bone grafting despite the fact that he was suffering from sickle cell disease.

The state government had provided financial assistance of Rs 60,000 from the Odisha State Treatment Fund (OSTF) towards the treatment of Sushant.
