Minaketan Amant resigns from BJP after being denied ticket for Odisha polls

Angul: Senior BJP leader Minaketan Amant from Angul today resigned from primary membership of the party after being denied ticket for the upcoming elections in Odisha.

He tendered his resignation to BJP’s State president Basant Panda alleging party’s negligence and injustice towards him.

“I am deeply hurt over party’s decision for not giving me ticket for which I am resigning from party’s primary membership as well as Angul state working member,” he wrote in the letter.

Expressing resentment over ticket allotments for both Lok Sabha and Assembly polls scheduled from April 11 in Odisha, Amant said, “I had been working hard for the party in the past 30 years without any condition. Even I had left the high-salaried jon in NALCO to strengthen the organisation. However, I was not offered the party ticket for the Assembly polls; even I was not consulted in candidates’ selection. The party made injustice with me sidelining my decades-long dedication and hard work.”

Worth mentioning, Amant was the BJP’s candidate twice from Angul Assembly Constituency for 2009 and 2014 elections in the State. However, he had lost both the polls.
