Minor boy among three held for raping minor girl in Odisha

Jeypore: The police today arrested three persons including one minor boy on charges of raping a minor girl in Jeypore Sadar police limits in Koraput district. Though the incident occurred on March 10, the matter came to fore after a police complaint was lodged today.

Akash Nayak of Kumbhar Street, Mete alias Tushar Harijan of Kusumput are among the three accused. As per the complaint, three persons riding a motorcycle obstructed the minor girl aged about 17 years at about 5.00 PM on March 10. They pulled the minor girl to nearby bush and sexually assaulted her one after another, she added. The trio also threatened the girl with dire consequences if she discloses the matter before anyone.

Based on the complaint, police register a case under different sections of IPC and Section 6 of POCSO Act.

Police have recorded the victim’s statement under Section 164 of the Criminal Penal Code and sent her for medical examination.

A police official said the three persons will be forwarded to a court tomorrow.
