Minor boy dies as wall caves in due to incessant rain in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj

Bhubaneswar: A minor boy was reportedly killed when the wall of a neighbour’s house caved in on him in Morada area of Mayurbhanj district in Odisha today.

The deceased has been identified as Bhuja Marndi (14), son of Maisa Marndi of Gholamunha panchayat under Morada block.

According to villagers, the wall caved in on Bhuja when was playing near his neighbour’s house in the morning.

“Morada area of Mayurbhanj has been witnessing incessant rain for last few days. This could be the reason behind the sudden collapse of the mud wall,” said a villager.

The minor boy was rescued by the locals and rushed to a Community Health Centre (CHC) at Kisantandi in a critical condition, sources said.

The injured boy was later shifted to Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital at Baripada after his condition deteriorated. However, he was declared dead on arrival by the doctors.

On being informed, Morada police reached the hospital and sent the body for postmortem after registering a case of unnatural death in this regard.
