Minor boy kills inebriated father in Odisha’s Deogarh

Deogarh: A minor boy allegedly stabbed his father to death over ill-treatment towards his mother. The 16-year-old juvenile has been detained by police for interrogation into the murder case.

According to reports, the incident took place at Jharakandal village under Barkote police limits in Deogarh district on Tuesday night when the juvenile’s father Benudhar Kisan (45) started fighting with his mother in an inebriated condition.

Benudhar was also using abusive terms for his wife. Reportedly being upset with his father for such behaviour towards mother, the minor boy and his sibling appealed to father to stop making disturbance at home.

However, Benudhar, who was reportedly in his inebriated state, did not pay heed to them. Expressing sharply, the juvenile attacked his father with a hatchet.

Following the incident, the victim with help of relatives was rushed to the SDH Bonai in Sundargarh district in critical condition, from where he was referred to the Ispat General Hospital (IGH) in Rourkela for treatment. However, while being taken to the hospital, Benudhar succumbed.

On receiving information from a source, the Barkote police reached the village while the body was being consigned to flames on Wednesday morning. The police seized the half-burnt body and detained the accused.

The local police along with a scientific team have initiated a probe into the incident.
