Minor boy lynched to death for ‘stealing’ Rs 500 in Odisha

Baripada: In a heart-wrenching incident, a minor boy was allegedly beaten to death by a group of locals on suspicion of theft of Rs 500 at Kiapanposi village under Karanjia police limits in Mayurbhanj district today.

As per sources, the boy was beaten black and blue by a woman and her neighbours for ‘stealing’ Rs 500 from a house. The attack led to his death. On receiving information, Karanjia police reached the spot along with a scientific team and initiated an inquiry. The body was later sent for post-mortem.

Though the accused woman confessed that she had beaten the boy for the alleged theft, she stated to be unaware of the reason behind his death.

Meanwhile, the villagers have condemned such ‘inhuman’ act and demanded stern action against persons involved in the incident.
