Khurda: A minor boy was allegedly stabbed to death today inside his house by an unidentified youth in Benapanjari village under Jatani police limits in Khurda district.
The deceased was identified as the son of Manoj Paltasingh from the village. The minor was studying in Class IX in Odisha Adarsh Vidyalaya, a police source said.
According to the source, the wrongdoer barged into the house all of a sudden and attacked the victim boy when he was studying in a room. The boy sustained grievous injuries in the incident.
The minor boy was rescued from a pool of blood by some locals and was later rushed to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Khordha town where he was declared ‘dead’ on arrival.
On being informed, a team of Jatani police reached the spot and launched a probe into the death.
“The attacker was carrying a knife kept somewhere near his waist. The youth stabbed the boy three to four times on his (the latter’s) chest, neck, and other parts of the body and fled from the spot soon after committing the crime. However, the attacker could not be identified,” some locals expressed.
The cause behind the fatal attack has not been ascertained yet, a senior cop said.
Police have sent the body for post-mortem.
