Minor couple commits suicide in Odisha’s Koraput

Koraput: A minor couple allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison over disapproval of families here in the district.

The deceased duo was residents of Goudakankadaput village under Lakshmipur block in Koraput district.

According to reports, the minor boy was the Class VIII student of Litiguda Government School and the girl was working as a daily labourer at forest department.

Sources said that the girl had eloped with the boy, who was her uncle in relation, after getting wage 15 days ago. However, they returned to village after their money ran out.

The couple reportedly consumed poison on Tuesday night and their bodies were found lying under a tree today morning.

On receiving information, Kakiriguma Police reached the spot and handed over the bodies to their families following autopsy.

The couple was suspected to have ended their lives after their families did not approve of their relationship, informed a police official.
