Boudh: At a time when the Odisha government is drawing flak from various quarters over suicide of Kunduli gang-rape victim in Koraput district, another such incident came to fore today further embarrassing the State government.
Sources said a class-IX girl was abducted and allegedly gang-raped yesterday by two men in a forest near Kodibahal village under Kantamal police station in the district.
An FIR was lodged on the basis of a complaint filed by the victim’s family members.
As per the complaint, the girl who had gone to her uncle’s place to attend the wedding of her relative, was forcibly taken to a forest and gang-raped by the two men while she was out to attend the nature’s call.
The minor girl was accompanied by one of her paternal aunt when the men forcefully taken her into the jungle and committed the crime.
The duo fled the spot after leaving the hapless girl in the jungle at around 10 pm yesterday, sources said.
Though the police has begun investigation into the matter, no one has been arrested so far by the latest reports came in.
"The girl said that she had arrived in the village to attend a marriage function of a relative. She had gone to answer nature's call with her aunt in the evening when two youths of Kodibahal abducted her and one of them raped her," said inspector-in-charge of Kantamal police station, Purna Chandra Kishan.
