Minor girl allegedly raped 4 to 5 times in running bus in Odisha’s Jajpur

Dasarathpur: A man allegedly raped his minor niece (younger brother’s daughter) at least four to five times in a running bus on Sunday night in Jajpur, who happens to be his distant relative. The matter came to the fore after an FIR was lodged in this regard by the rape survivor’s father today.

The accused man has been identified as 45-year-old Dayanidhi Jena, who belongs to Patiri village of Tarapada panchayat under Dasarathpur police limits of the district. The minor girl was identified as the 16-year-old daughter of a resident of the same village.

According to a source, the victim was on her way to tuition in Purunasahi village when the accused intercepted the minor at around 6.00 am and asked her to accompany him to a hospital in Bhadrak saying that the girl’s mother was sick and had been admitted for treatment.

Believing the words of the distant relative, the minor initially went with the man on a motorcycle up to Aradi. There, Dayanidhi left his motorcycle at a petrol pump and both went to Bhadrak town by bus.

After reaching Bhadrak, the ill-motivated man later booked two tickets in a slipper bus and tactfully took the girl to Kolkata in West Bengal. However, on the way, he pulled the large screens in the sleeper bus and forcibly outraged the girl’s modesty four to five times. Even to the extent, he threatened the minor with dire consequences in case she would scream for help or reveal the incident to anybody.

Dayanidhi returned to Bhadrak again the same night by bus. They reached Bhadrak town at around 3.00 am. On his way back to the village, he dropped the girl on the roadside in critical condition at Malikapur-Palasahi at around 4.30 am while travelling in an auto-rickshaw.

On being informed, Dasarathpur police reached the spot and launched a probe into the incident. “The detailed investigation is underway,” IIC Badrikanath Behera said.
