With quitting of the case, the statements of minor girl and her mother could not be recorded on Thursday.

Sources said that a special government lawyer will be appointed for conducting the criminal proceedings and hearing in the case will take place after two weeks.

The Mahila police had submitted a chargesheet against comedy actor Tattwa Prakash Satpathy alias Papu and film producer Pradipta Swain in the casting couch case in April.

The charges were framed against the actor on July 1 in connection with the case under sections 341, 323 and 354 of the IPC and Sections 8 and 12 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

If he is found guilty in the case by the court, he can be jailed for maximum period of 5 years.

Papu is accused of sexually exploiting a minor girl on pretext of giving her a break in a movie. The girl had brought allegation against the actor on June 25 last year.

She alleged the actor along with his associate film producer Pradipta Swain alias Gitu of molesting her repeatedly promising her to give chance in films.

The Commissionerate police arrested him on basis of the complaint lodged by Friends Association, a voluntary organisation, on June 30 last year from an apartment in Puri.

Papu and Gitu were granted bail by Orissa High Court on August 10 last year.
