Minor girl killed in Kalahandi district of Odisha, rape suspected

Bhawanipatna, Mar 14:

A minor girl was found dead yesterday at Bhaluchanchara village under Narla block in Kalahandi district of Odisha.

However, the mysterious circumstances have raised suspicion of rape of the minor girl before killing her.

The incident occurred yesterday when the deceased’s father was away from the village for some work and the girl was alone at home.

Later in the day, the body was found lying under suspicious circumstances inside the house by the victim’s father when he returned back from work.

Following which a complaint has been lodged with local police and police have started probe into the girl’s murder and alleged rape with help of sniffer dog.

Father of the deceased has alleged that his daughter was regularly being harassed by a youth of the village.

“My daughter was regularly being harassed by a youth who was once slapped by my daughter for his mischievous manner. However, the Gram Sabha had imposed penalty on me following it and I had opposed the decision,” said the victim’s father.

Later, the youth’s family had threatened to ruin my family and rape my daughter, he added.
