Chandbali: A minor girl died after drowning in a river here in Odisha's Bhadrak district this morning.

The deceased was identified as Sasmita Jena, 16, daughter of Bijay Jena of Radhanga village under Tihidi Block.

According to reports, Sasmita had gone to the Kundi River at around 4.00 am for performing some puja on its shore. After she did not returned to home for a long hours, the family members searched her near the river where they found some flowers kept for the purpose of worship.

When they looked for her in the river, found her body floating on the water at around 9.00 am.

It is suspected that Sasmita might have drowned while taking bath in the river.

The family recovered the body and took her to the district headquarters hospital in Bhadrak.
