Minor girl molested by headmistress’ husband in Odisha

Baripada: A headmistress of a government school faced people’s wrath for her husband, who allegedly molested a minor girl at the education institution in Odisha.

The allegation was made against husband of Sujatarani Pati, the headmistress of Chintamani Tilottama Girls’ High School under Baisinga police limits in Mayurbhanj district.

According to reports, the school headmistress’ husband Chinmaya Mishra had allegedly called a class 10 student atop the roof where he touched her body that made her feel uncomfortable. He offered her sindoor (vermilion), raw rice and bael leaves and asked her to apply it on her body to excel in studies.

Later, the accused applied the sindoor on her body. When she opposed inappropriate touching by the person and shouted, the latter threatened her to kill if she discloses about it.

The victim lodged a complaint at Baisinga Police Station alleging molestation by the headmistress’ husband at school.

Based on the complaint, ASI Anita Swain had gone to the accused person’s house to arrest him last night. However, the local police had to return empty handed as the accused was not present at his house.

Later, a case was filed against Chinmaya Mishra under sections 8 and 12 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Meanwhile, the locals staged a dharna in front of the school demanding the arrest of the accused.
