Minor girl raped by married man in Odisha’s Balasore, accused held

Balasore: Despite the ongoing ‘Pari Pain Katha Tiye’ campaign by the Odisha police against child sexual abuse, there is no stopping to incidents of misbehaviour with girls in the state.

A minor girl was allegedly raped by a married man at Anantapur in Soro area of Balasore district last evening. The accused, identified as Prakash Jena, was arrested after the mother of the victim lodged a complaint with police.

According to reports, the girl was forcibly taken to a secluded place by the accused while she had gone to attend nature’s call. He later allegedly raped her.

After returning home in the evening, the girl narrated the ordeal to her parents. She also alleged that the accused threatened to kill her if she revealed the incident to anyone.

Acting on a complaint lodged by the girl’s mother, Soro police have arrested the accused and started investigation into the incident.
