Minor girl raped in Odisha capital, accused held

Bhubaneswar: An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth at a slum in Niladri Vihar area under Chandrasekharpur police limits in Odisha capital, yesterday.

According to police sources, the minor girl had taken shelter at the verandah of a house in the slum due to rainfall in the afternoon. In the meantime, accused Rabi Nayak (21) took the girl inside the house by luring her with chocolate and raper her.

The victim narrated the ordeal to her parents. Acting on a complaint lodged by her parents, Chandrasekharpur police arrested the accused from an under-construction house, where he was hiding.

The girl was admitted to a private hospital for treatment. A case has been registered into the incident and further investigation is underway.
