Dhenkanal: Tension ran high at Gadapalasuni under Parjang police limits in Odisha's Dhenkanal district today over death of a minor girl in a road accident as locals resorted to road blockade.

The deceased, identified as Liza Nayak (15) of Gadapalasuni village, was going towards a pond for taking bath when a speeding pickup van hit the girl killing her on the spot.

Locals then staged a road blockade by burning tyres and demanded compensation for the family of the deceased placing the body on the road. Vehicular movement on Parjang-Telkoi was affected due to the incident.

On the other hand, the locals detained a police official who had gone to the spot after being informed. Efforts were on by cops to restore normalcy.
