Misbehaviour slur on Anubhav Mohanty: Woman journo stages dharna at PS

Cuttack: A woman journalist, who had accused Kendrapara MP Anubhav Mohanty and his brother Anuprash of misbehaving with her, staged a dharna at the Purighat police station in Odisha’s Cuttack city today demanding action against the accused.

“The IIC of the police station is unable to take action against the MP and his brother due to political pressure on the official. Moreover, investigation into the matter is yet to commence though I had lodged the complaint a month ago. I was told that the case hasn’t been assigned to any police official for probe,” the woman journalist said.

She further said that she is being threatened and lewd remarks are being passed at her by associates of the accused. “I will resort to sit-in at the police station till I get justice,” she said.

In an FIR lodged by the complainant at the police station last month, she had alleged that Anuprash used to pass objectionable comments at her whenever she was on her way to work on Choudhury Bazar-Nandi Sahi road.

Later, she had gone to meet Anubhav at his house to draw his attention towards the matter, during which the actor-turned-politician allegedly abused her and spat at the journalist.

A case under sections 294, 354 (A), 323 and 34 of the IPC has been registered against Anubhav and Anuprash based on the complaint filed by the scribe.
