Baripada: In a broad daylight heist, a miscreant allegedly looted Rs one lakh from the side box of a motorcycle at Badabazar in Odisha's Baripada town today.

According to reports, one Jeevan Kumar Dandapat (52) of ward no. 17 here, a contractor by profession, withdrew the amount from Bank of India and kept it inside the side box of his motorcycle.

Around noon, Dandapat parked the vehicle and went towards a shop during which a person wearing mask broke the side box and decamped with the cash with the help of his associate on a motorcycle.

The victim has lodged a complaint with police in this regard. Efforts were on by cops to trace and apprehend the looters.
