Miscreant loots Rs 55K from elderly man inside bank in Odisha’s Balasore; probe initiated

Jaleswar: In a broad daylight heist, an elderly man was robbed of Rs 55,000 inside a branch of Punjab National Bank located at Baunsadiha under Kamardha police limits in Balasore district, today.

A source said that the victim elderly man Bansidhar Sahoo hails from Baga village in the district.

According to the source, Bansidhar along with his son had gone to the bank to withdraw his pension. After withdrawing the money, he was waiting inside the bank and at that time his son had gone to a counter to update the passbook. Taking advantage of the elderly man being alone, the unidentified miscreant snatched away the entire pension money from Bansidhar and fled from the spot.

“The money was kept in a handbag and the miscreant decamped with it,” victim Bansidhar stated.

Bansidhar later informed the branch manager about the incident and lodged an FIR with Kamardha police.

The police launched a probe into the broad daylight heist, which is underway.

“We will cooperate with the probe team and the incident has been captured on CCTV camera, the branch manager said.
