Miscreant slits devotee’s throat in Odisha’s Puri, loots valuables

Puri: A miscreant allegedly slitted a devotee’s throat and looted valuables from the latter near Jagannath Ballav parking lot in Odisha’s Puri town today.

The victim, identified as Pramod Jena of Balasore, sustained critical injuries and was admitted to the Puri district headquarters hospital. He was later shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as his condition deteriorated.

According to reports, the incident took place this morning while Pramod was returning after having darshan of the deities at the Sri Jagannath Temple here. The miscreant snatched away gold chain and wallet from Pramod, during which he resisted it.

The looter then attacked Pramod with a knife and slitted the victim’s throat. The Puri town police have started investigation into the incident.
