Miscreants attack, loot around Rs 1.5 lakh from two businessmen in Odisha’s Keonjhar

Telkoi: Two businessmen who are brothers were attacked today by two bike-borne and unidentified miscreants with a dagger and were then looted around Rs 1.5 lakh in Telkoi town of Keonjhar district. The incident took place in the afternoon at around 3.30 pm, a police source said.

The two victims were identified as 53-year-old Sarat Sahu and his younger brother 48-year-old Bharat Sahu, who hail from Golagadia village under Kankadahada police limits of Dhenkanal.

According to the source, the looters reached near the businessman brothers when the duo was about to pack up their merchandise at weekly haat as per usual timing. All of a sudden, the criminals attempted to snatch a handbag containing cash from the brothers.

The brother duo retaliated and had a scuffle. The miscreants even targeted a gun at them to create fear. When the two looters felt that things were going out of their hands, they attacked the businessmen with a dagger leaving them critically injured, and decamped with the bag, the source added.

“Sarat has sustained grievous injuries on his head, back, legs, and hands in the incident. Condition of his younger brother is also critical,” a senior police official stated.
