Miscreants fire at police; one flees, another arrested in Odisha

Odisha police overpowered a miscreant while his accomplice managed to give a slip after firing at police personnel in Keonjhar district on Wednesday night.

A country made pistol, two ATM cards, two mobile phones and cash have been seized from his possession.

The arrested has been identified as Ashok Mahakud.

Dreaded criminal Ashok and one of his accomplices were on their way on Serenda-Champua jungle road last night. Police had a tip-off regarding their journey and trapped the duo.

Police tried to stop them, who were on a motorcycle. However, the miscreants opened fire at police, said Inspector SK Soren of Joda police station.

While one managed to give police a slip, Ashok was nabbed by the cops, he concluded.
