Miscreants loot businessman at gun-point in Odisha’s Cuttack

As per reports, a group of five to six bike-borne youths intercepted Bikas Patra, a gold trader of Hatasahi and tried to snatch the valuables he was carrying

Cuttack: In a broad daylight heist, unidentified miscreants allegedly looted cash and gold ornaments from a businessman in Cuttack district of Odisha here today. The incident took place at Matagajpur level crossing within Kandarpur police limits in the morning.

As per reports, a group of five to six bike-borne youths intercepted Bikas Patra, a gold trader of Hatasahi and tried to snatch the valuables he was carrying. When he resisted, they resorted to blank firing. Patra, however, had a narrow escape as the bullets did not hit him.

“We received information that a group of miscreants looted a businessman near Mataganjpur railway crossing and sent a police team to the spot immediately. The youths, as alleged by the victim, resorted to blank firing and took away gold and cash from him. We have started investigation. The exact value of the looted items will be ascertained after the victim files a complaint. Investigation is underway,” a senior Commissionerate Police official informed.
