Miscreants loot gold, cash from Ram Temple at Fategarh in Odisha’s Nayagarh

Nayagarh: Miscreants allegedly looted gold and cash from the newly constructed Ram Temple on the Giri-Govardhan hill at Fategarh in Odisha’s Nayagarh district, last night.

The incident came to light when the temple priest arrived for the morning rituals today and discovered the main door of the temple being open, with the donation box completely emptied.

According to reports, the miscreants broke open the main door, looted the donation box containing gold, silver jewellery, and cash, and then fled the spot. The stolen items include Rs 8 lakh in cash and ornaments worth more than Rs 15 lakh.

The temple committee informed the local police about the theft, following which the cops reached the place and started an investigation into the matter.

Police detained two persons for questioning in this connection.

Notably, the Ram Temple in Fategarh was inaugurated on January 22, coinciding with the consecration ceremony of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir.
