Miscreants loot money from donation box of Baladevjew Temple in Odisha’s Keonjhar

Keonjhar: Unidentified miscreants allegedly looted money from donation box at Baladevjew Temple in Odisha’s Keonjhar district, last night.

Though the amount of the stolen money was yet to be ascertained, a servitor of the temple said there was cash of around Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 inside the box.

The lock of the donation box was found broken, this morning.

The CCTV camera installed near the donation box was not functioning, which has made the detection of the robbers more challenging.

“As construction work is currently underway, all gates of the temple were open. Taking advantage of the situation, the miscreants committed the loot. The security guards have not done their duty properly. We urge the local administration to take stringent action in order to prevent such incidents in the future,” the servitor said.

Police have started an investigation into the matter.
