Miscreants loot over Rs 9 lakh at gunpoint in Odisha

Balasore/Berhampur: Miscreants allegedly looted more than Rs 9 lakh at gunpoint in two separate incidents in Odisha today.

According to reports, an employee of Swosti Resort was heading towards bank in a car carrying Rs 6 lakh to deposit the amount. In the meantime, three motorcycle-borne miscreants intercepted the four-wheeler near Bhejiput School under Khallikote police limits in Ganjam district, threatened him by showing gun, and took away the money from his possession.

In another incident, Ashok Jena (45), who works as an accountant with a private company in Balasore, was travelling to a bank on a motorcycle carrying Rs 3.20 lakh for depositing the cash when two persons attacked him while one of them fired at his leg near Khan Nagar under Balasore Sadar police limits. The looters then snatched away the bag containing the cash and fled the spot.

The victim was admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital while police have started an investigation into the incident.
