Miscreants posing as policemen loot gold chain from woman in Sundargarh town

Sundargarh: Two miscreants impersonating cops looted a gold chain today from a woman at Jail Road in Sundargarh town of this district, which is one of the busiest roads.

Acting on an FIR lodged by the woman, Town police have launched a probe into the theft incident.

According to sources, the victim woman named Binodini Nayak from Mohantypada was walking down the streets when she confronted the bike-borne miscreants. They advised Binodini to keep her gold chain safely in her handbag saying that it was visible and might attract the attention of thieves.

Believing the words of the looters, Binodini kept her jewellery in the handbag. Later, the miscreants tactfully stole the gold chain keeping an imitation chain in its place.

After a few minutes, Binodini could notice that the gold chain was stolen by the miscreants.

“We have been verifying the video footages of CCTVs installed at nearby locations. With the help of clues drawn from the footages, we will be able to reach out to the wrongdoers and nab them,” Town PS Inspector-in-charge (IIC) Sushant Kumar Parida said.
