Angul: In a broad daylight heist, two bike-borne miscreants looted Rs 50,000 cash from a peon of a Plus Two college after attacking him with a knife near Dhasar bridge here today.

The injured identified as Premanidhi Sahu, a peon of Kishorenagar Plus II College, has been admitted to hospital for treatment.

Sources said when Premanidhi was returning to his house after withdrawing Rs 50,000 cash from a bank, the miscreants came on a bike and stabbed him with a knife before decamping with the money. Sahu, who sustained grievous injuries in the attack, was admitted to a hospital in Kishorenagar.

Later, a complaint was lodged at Kishorenagar police station, following which the police began an investigation into the incident.
