Miscreants stab jail superintendent in Odisha

Sambalpur, Aug 3:

Unidentified miscreants this evening stabbed the superintendent of Circle Jail in the western Odisha district headquarters town of Sambalpur.


The incident occurred while Brahmananda Sahu, superintendent of Sambalpur Circle Jail was on his way back home after completing his duty. Miscreants allegedly stabbed him in a dark place, reports said.

Sahu has been admitted to the district headquarters hospital here. His condition is stated to be critical, reports added.

ADG (Prisons) Arun Ray has confirmed the attack on Sahu.

“He was stabbed by a bike-borne miscreant while he was returning home after conducting a surprise raid in the jail,” informed Arun Ray ADG (Prisons).

Meanwhile, Sahu has been shifted to VIMSAR, Burla as his condition deteriorated.
