Bhubaneswar: Unidentified miscreants allegedly tried to loot valuables from IPS officer Sagarika Nath's parents near AMRI Hospital under Bharatpur police limits in Odisha capital on Sunday evening.
According to reports, Nath's parents were returning home in a car, during which two motorcycle-borne miscreants chased and intercepted the four-wheeler.
The looters then threatened the couple to give them money and gold ornaments, to which Nath's parents refused.
The wrongdoers tried to snatch away the valuables from the two by attacking them. Resisted by Nath's father, the looters fled the spot.
The Bharatpur police, acting on a complaint lodged by Nath's parents, have started investigation into the incident. Cops were examining footage of nearby CCTV cameras to identify the accused.
Police have seized the motorcycle, which was left at the spot by the miscreants.
"The incident took place at around 8.30 pm. The miscreants tried to loot my parents but failed to do so. We have lodged a complaint in this regard with police. Probe is underway," said Sagarika Nath, who is currently serving as Balasore SP.
