Bhubaneswar, Apr 3:
Vroom, vroom, vroom!
Royal Enfield enthusiasts in the city had a field day today with the dream event of bike lovers coming to the Odisha capital for the first time ever. Organised by Real Pride Riders, over a hundred Royal Enfield-borne riders rode from Shaheed Nagar to Khandagiri, as a part of One Ride initiative.
One Ride is celebrated by Royal Enfield motor bike owners all over the world on the first Sunday of April every year.
Says Baibhav Agarwal, the official distributor of Royal Enfield spare parts in Odisha, “We wanted to spread awareness on the importance on safe riding and hence stressed on the participants to be in possession of safety gears. Many passers-by were riding bikes without helmets and they were surprised at Royal Enfield bikers riding in perfect formation, not exceeding the speed limit of 40 kmph, all wearing helmets.”
After reaching Khandagiri, the riders took part in the slow motorcycle race and the Eco-race, where the rider sits on the bike and pushes it to the finishing line.
However, the first edition of One Ride in Bhubaneswar, saw no women riders. “We are hoping for a larger turnout and possibly some participation of women, next year,” said Agarwal.
