‘Missing’ former Odisha MLA traced to Kolkata

Bhubaneswar:  Former MLA of Dhenkanal Nabin Nanda, who was reported missing in the morning, was traced to Kolkata this evening, family sources confirmed.

The ex-legislator was found to be in his hotel room in Shakespeare Sarani in Kolkata, said Sambit, the eldest son of the politician.

Later speaking to media over phone, Nanda said his mobile phone and wallet were stolen by pickpockets in the morning which is why he couldn’t contact his family members in Odisha.

He said he is all fine and would return to Bhubaneswar tonight.

Earlier in the day, Sambit had lodged a police complaint at Shakespeare Sarani police station in Kolkata after he failed to know his father’s whereabouts.

The former MLA had checked into room no- 403 of luxurious Aauris hotel in Kolkata on June 29.

He was supposed to reach Bhubaneswar at 7 AM today.

Nanda had been elected to the Odisha Assembly from Gondia Constituency on a BJD ticket in the year 2000 and again from Dhenkanal Constituency in the year 2004 on NCP ticket. Months ago, it was widely speculated that he might join BJP before 2019 polls.
