Missing minor student found dead with slit throat in Odisha’s Cuttack; family alleges murder

Cuttack: The body of a minor boy student, who was missing since last night, was spotted today morning by some locals while lying under mysterious circumstances with slit throat in Thoriasahi village of Purbakachha panchayat under Jagatpur police limits in Cuttack district.

The family of the minor alleged that he has been killed by somebody for reasons not known yet.

The deceased was identified as a Class VII student of Purbakachha school and the lone son of Jagannath Behera from Thoriasahi village.

According to a source, the boy’s body was found at the causeway of Chandanpokhari (a pond) by some farmers when they were on their way to a nearby farmland to harvest paddy crops.

Later, the locals informed the deceased’s family and Jagatpur police about it.

Earlier yesterday, the boy’s parents were annoyed with him over his studies. He had gone missing since then. The family launched a frantic search at probable locations to trace him but to no avail.

On being informed, Jagatpur police reached the spot, seized the body, and initiated a probe. Police have sought the services of a dog squad and scientific team to assist in the investigation.

Besides, hundreds of Thoriasahi residents detained a police vehicle while the minor’s body was being taken to hospital for post-mortem. They demanded an immediate arrest of the culprit. Later, some police officials convinced the villagers, and the vehicle was allowed to go.

“My son had no enemies. Whoever has killed him must be punished,” the child’s father said.
