MLA Bijaya Shankar has multiple affairs with women: Somalika

Bhubaneswar: Trouble seems to be mounting for Tirtol MLA Bijaya Shankar Das as his estranged girlfriend Somalika Das has accused him of having affairs with multiple women.

At a time when a case has been registered against the legislator on the basis of a complaint filed by Somalika, the fresh allegation levelled by her against the MLA left him red-faced.

“He has affairs with many women. He is also having an affair with a married woman. Objectionable photos of the two have gone viral. I had once advised him to refrain from such activities, but he didn’t pay any heed. He had threatened me saying that he belongs to the ruling party. I have now decided not to marry him,” said Somalika.

As per reports, Somalika in her statement to police has said that Bijaya Shankar developed physical intimacy with her on the promise of marriage. She further alleged that he forced her to undergo abortion twice.

Notably, the Orissa High Court had recently directed the Jagatsinghpur police station IIC to register a case against Bijaya Shankar on the basis of a complaint lodged by Somalika.

Alleging police inaction, Somalika had moved the High Court seeking registration of case against the lawmaker.

She had mentioned in her petition that police was not registering case against the MLA despite filing of an FIR on May 13, 2022.

Worth mentioning, Somalika had levelled a serious allegation against the legislator accusing him of not turning up for marriage at a court in Jagatsinghpur even as the two had applied for marriage registration at the office of the sub-registrar in the district.

She had further accused him of running a sex racket. She alleged that the MLA engaged innocent girls in the illegal activity. The money collected through the sex racket was used by the MLA for election-related expenses, she said.
