Jharsuguda: Former Congress leader Naba Kishore Das today joined the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) at a public meeting here in the presence of Chief Minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik.

Das had on January 16 resigned from the primary membership of the Congress party and announced to join the BJD.

In his resignation letter addressed to All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Rahul Gandhi, Das had mentioned that people and voters of his area want him to contest the upcoming election from BJD as they want the development of the area.

Das also sent a letter to the Speaker of the Odisha Assembly today intending to resign as Jharsuguda MLA. He requested the Speaker to fix a date to meet the latter and submit his resignation letter duly.
