MLAs to meet Jhaveri over western Odisha HC Bench 

Sambalpur: A delegation of MLAs would meet Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court (HC) KS Jhaveri on January 3 to press for their long-standing demand of setting up of a permanent HC Bench in western Odisha.

Jharsuguda MLA Naba Das, who will be a member of the delegation, informed this today. Sambalpur MLA Rajeswari Panigrahi would also accompany the team. A few other MLAs would also be included in the team, Das added.

Das said on July 27, 2015, the then Law Minister Sadanand Gouda had urged the HC to make its stand clear on establishment of High Court Bench in western Odisha. In response, the then Chief Justice of HC on August 2, 2015 had said Pal Commission has been formed and a report in this regard would be given in three months.

Das said three years have been passed, but the HC has not given any report on the matter till yet.The delegation would approach the Chief Justice to give its reports as soon as possible, he added.

Das said the MLAs would also meet Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on the matter.
