Mobile Internet services restored in Odisha’s Bhadrak

Bhadrak: Authorities today restored mobile Internet services in Bhadrak town, two days after the facility was snapped in view of apprehensions of law and order problems during Ram Navami celebrations.

Bhadrak Superintendent of Police Anup Sahu informed to the media saying the annual Hindu festival passed off smoothly.

Notably, Internet providers were asked to stop their services for 48 hours starting from 6 pm on Saturday so that rumour mongers cannot operate social media platforms which help in fanning communal tension during the festival which is being celebrated here in a big way.

As many as 50 platoons of police personnel were deployed in the town for the smooth conduct of the festival.

Communal tension between Hindus and Muslims erupted in the town during the Sankirtan procession on the occasion of Ram Navami in April last year and after derogatory remarks against Hindu gods being posted on social media. Over 150 persons were arrested in connection with the incident.
