Modern eye hospital inaugurated in Odisha’s Angul

Angul: With an aim to provide free of cost comprehensive eye care treatment to poor patients, an ultra-modern eye hospital was set up today in Odisha’s Angul district.

A team of eye care specialists will provide comprehensive eye care for uncorrected refractive error, cataract surgeries, medical care of glaucoma and retinal diseases, diabetic retinopathy and ocular surface disorders, among other diseases.

The Eye Care Hospital was established by the National Aluminium Company (Nalco) in association with Hyderabad-based LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI).

The hospital will provide free eye care services to residents of periphery villages of S & P Complex and Utkal D & E Coal block, having identification cards here. The treatment will also be free for BPL category families, residing in and around Angul district, an official statement issued by Nalco said.

The hospital will provide benefits to more than 60000 outpatients, perform 6000 surgeries annually and offer free of cost treatment to poor patients at Angul, it added.

The sprawling hospital is spread over 4 acres land with 35,000 sqft. built up area and state of the art modern medical equipment with world class facilities.

The hospital, which was built at a cost of Rs 25 crore, was inaugurated by Union Minister, Petroleum & Natural Gas, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan.

Among others who were present are former MP Rudra Narayan Pani and Nalco CMD Tapan Kumar Chand among others.
