Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday arrived in his parliamentary constituency Varanasi on a two-day visit amid high security.
He was received by Governor Ram Naik, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and others at the airport here.
It is his 11th visit to Varanasi since he assumed office in 2014 and his first after the Bharatiya Janata Party government was formed in Uttar Pradesh in March.
Soon after arriving by a special Indian Air Force aircraft, Modi flew to the Police Lines in a chopper.
Among major events lined up for Friday are the inauguration of a facilitation centre for weavers and a visit to the famous Durga Kund temple here.
The Prime Minister observes the nine-day fast during Navratri and a special prayer and 'darshan' have been arranged for him at the Durga Kund temple.
He will be inaugurating/launching 17 projects in his Lok Sabha constituency during the visit.
