Angul: Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised zero electricity bill for the consumers if his party BJP is voted to power in the Odisha Assembly Elections.

"We will make the electricity bill zero for the consumers under PM Surya Ghar Yojana if the party comes to power in Odisha. Under the scheme, the government will pay Rs 75,000 subsidiary to the beneficiaries for the installation of solar panels on the rooftop of houses to avail free electricity upto 300 units. The consumer can sell the surplus power generated from the solar panel," he said.

Addressing a huge gathering at Angul stadium during his visit to Odisha for the election campaign after holding a roadshow at Grand Road in Puri town in the morning, Modi attacked the BJD Government over corruption in the state.

"The BJD government is under the control of some corrupt persons in administration. Odisha has been receiving more royalties from coal mining since 2014. The Centre paid Rs 26,000 Crore under the District Mineral Fund (DMF) for development of people and villages in the mining areas. However, no development is seen so far," he alleged.

Raising the missing key of Ratna Bhandar of Puri Srimandir, Modi said that the key went missing from the temple during the BJD regime in the state. The government ordered a probe by a commission, but the report was not made public.

"Neither Odisha's rich natural resources are safe, nor its culture is safe in the hands of the BJD. Even the Jagannath Temple is not safe. There is no trace about the Ratna Bhandar key in past 6 years. The Machiavellians who are controlling the BJD government and Chief Minister are responsible behind corrupt practices," Modi alleged.

On farmers issue, he guaranteed to hike paddy MSP to Rs 3,100 in Odisha.

"If the BJP is voted to power in Odisha, we will make the paddy MSP at Rs 3,100 from Rs 2,200 for the farmers in the state like Chhattisgarh. The money will be credited at bank accounts within 48 hours of the procurement," he promised, assuring that there will be no 'katni chhatni' and electric machines will be installed at mandis for transparency in the paddy procurement process.

Seeing the huge crowd at the public meeting, Modi appeared confident of forming the government in Odisha.

"Departure of the BJD government is must in Odisha. It's high time, people should choose the BJP over the BJD, which ruled the state for last 24 years," the PM said, appealing to people to vote for BJP's Assembly candidates in Angul and MP candidates in Dhenkanal and Sambalpur for the double-engine government in Odisha.
