Puri: "The moment was divine, which cannot be described in words," said Justice Biswanath Rath, the panel head of Puri Jagannath Temple Ratna Bhandar monitoring committee.
Speaking to reporters after completing the opening process of Ratna Bhandar, Justice Rath said, "Everything was carried out as per the SOP. I cannot describe what I felt at the time of opening the door. It was a divine moment. Everything took place as per the wish of Lord Jagannath."
Informing more about Ratna Bhandar, he said, "We inspected the condition of containers in which the valuables are stored inside inner chamber of Ratna Bhandar. Although, we did not open the containers, everything is safe like before and we returned from the Ratna Bhandar safely."
"As the Bahuda Jatra is scheduled tomorrow, it is not possible to transfer the containers from the inner chamber of Ratna Bhandar to a temporary strong room in a day. We need more time for shifting. The ASI will inspect the structure after we shift the valuables to the strong room. After repairing work, we will keep the valuables inside the inner chamber. The counting will take place inside the Ratna Bhandar," he said ruling out of wet condition of the structure.
However, all ornaments stored in chests in outside chamber of Ratna Bhandar have been transferred to a temporary strong room at the temple. The outside chamber of Ratna Bhandar
Elaborating details of items stored inside the inner chamber, Justice Rath said that there were 6-7 wooden chests, 5 almirah inside 15 ft x 10 ft size Ratna Bhandar.
"There 4 chests inside outside chamber of Ratna Bhandar. Two chests were opened, two could not be opened due to lack of time. At inner chamber, there were 5 chests, 4 wooden almirahs and 1 steel almirah inside inner chamber of Ratna Bhandar. Some dust-like material was also found on floor. Besides, many items were lying on the floor. Many other items might have been there as we did not see backside of the almirahs," he said.
