Bhubaneswar: The Southwest Monsoon today covered more parts of Odisha, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

It is likely to advance further in the state in the next 2-3 days.

"Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Northwest Bay of Bengal, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and some parts of Bihar," the agency said in a bulletin.

"Conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Northwest Bay of Bengal, some parts of Gangetic West Bengal, remaining parts of Sub Himalayan West Bengal and some parts of Bihar and Jharkhand during next 2- 3 days," it added.

On the other hand, the Regional Meteorological Centre here issued Yellow Warning for several districts of Odisha for today and tomorrow regarding thunderstorm with lightning.

Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface windspeed reaching 30-40 kmph likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Khurda, Nayagarh, Boudh, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, and Puri today, the Meteorological Centre forecasted.

Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface windspeed reaching 30-40 kmph likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Rayagada tomorrow, the Meteorological Centre predicted.
