Monsoon likely to hit Odisha in 24 hrs: IMD

Bhubaneswar: The southwest monsoon is likely to hit some parts of Odisha within the next 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted today.

Conditions are favourable for advance of monsoon into some parts of Odisha during the next 24 hours, a bulletin of the IMD said.

The IMD further predicted of heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Ganjam, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Gajapati and Koraput in the next 24 hours.

Under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over east-central and adjoining northeast Bay of Bengal, a low pressure area has formed over northeast Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood. Associated cyclonic circulation extends upto 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height, the IMD said.
