Monsoon rain brings relief to Odisha; thundershower alert issued for Bhubaneswar, Cuttack

Bhubaneswar: People of Odisha woke up to a rainy morning today after experiencing humid weather condition during monsoon season.

The regional meteorological centre of the IMD issued intense rain alert for Bhubaneswar and Cuttack city for next two hours.

“Rain or thundershower with moderate 1-2 cm per hour to intense 2-3 cm per hour spells of rainfall very likely to occur between 8.45 am to 10.45 am in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar city area,” Bhubaneswar MeT stated in a special bulletin in the morning.

Under influence of active monsoon, moderate rainfall has started across coastal region of the state since morning. By 8.30 am, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 14.7 mm and 41.8 mm rainfall respectively.

While Paradip recorded the highest rainfall activities of 105 mm by 8.30 am, other places such as Puri experienced 86.6 mm monsoon rain followed by Dhenkanal (70 mm), Nayagarh (43.1 mm) and Kendrapara (22.4 mm).
