Bhubaneswar: While Odisha has been sizzling with blistering heatwave conditions, the Southwest Monsoon may hit the state within the next 2-3 days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted today.
"Conditions are favorable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon over some more parts of south Peninsular India, some parts of Odisha, some more parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh during next 2-3 days," the IMD said.
The agency further predicted that heat wave conditions over east India and adjoining areas are likely to abate gradually from tomorrow onwards.
On the other hand, the Regional Meteorological Centre here said the maximum temperature (day temperature) is very likely to fall gradually by 4 to 6 degree Celsius during the next 3 days and no large change thereafter at many places over the districts of Odisha. Maximum temperature is very likely to be above normal by 4-6 degree Celsius in some districts of interior Odisha during the next 2 days.
