Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government is planning to establish more eco-retreat camps in Kandhamal district this winter to attract tourists.

During a visit to the district on Saturday, Principal Advisor to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Chairman of the Western Odisha Development Council (WODC) Asit Kumar Tripathy attended a meeting with the district collector and other senior officials and discussed the development of tourism infrastructure in Kandhamal.

Located in the middle of the Eastern Ghats mountain range in Odisha, Kandhamal district is covered with scenic beauties. He said that the district will be developed into a major tourist destination with different types of activities.

During his official trip to Kandhamal yesterday, Tripathy was fascinated by the unique natural beauties and well-maintained roads.

“Last year, an eco-retreat camp was set up at Daringbadi and it received an encouraging response. This year, more eco-retreat camps will be arranged at attractive locations,” he told news reporters.

The programmes such as motorbiking can be hosted for nature lovers in dense forests, he suggested asking the Superintendent of Police Vinit Agrawal to promote the district as a motorcycling circuit and link it with Chandaka on outskirts of Bhubaneswar city.
