More migrants board buses to return to Odisha from Surat

Bhubaneswar: More than 200 migrants boarded four buses last evening in Surat to return to Odisha amid nationwide lockdown for coronavirus outbreak, reports said.

As per information, three buses from Hari Nagar area and one bus from Bhestan area of Surat headed towards Odisha carrying as many as 228 migrant workers. While three of the buses are Ganjam-bound, one bus will reach Nayagarh. Travelling of the migrants has been permitted by local administrations.

Earlier on April 27, around 200 migrants had embarked on a journey from Surat to Ganjam district in buses. On reaching Odisha, all migrants will be quarantined at temporary medical camps in their respective areas as per government norms.

Worth mentioning, Odisha Government has decided to bring back Odia migrant workers who are currently stranded in Gujarat. Most of the workers will be brought back to Odisha in buses, official sources said, adding that decision over using other modes of transportation will be taken after a review.
