‘More than 78,000 engineering graduates, diploma holders yet to get jobs in Odisha’

Bhubaneswar: As many as 78,180 engineering graduates and diploma holders are jobless in the State. This was stated by Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Premananda Nayak in Odisha Assembly today.

In written reply to an unstarred question, the minister said there is an increasing in unemployment rate as thousands of engineering degree and diploma holders in different trades are yet to get jobs.

A total of 9,21,448 youths who have registered themselves at district employment exchanges are still jobless. In Ganjam district, the maximum number of 55,556 youths are unemployed, the minister added.

Members of the House cutting across party lines raised their concerns over the rising unemployment rates during today’s session.
