Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police today registered a case against Akash Kumar Pathak and his father and IFS officer Abhay Kant Pathak for allegedly cheating a travel agency of more than Rs 65 lakh.
Based on a complaint registered by Sky King Managing Partner, Prabhash Kumar Choudhury, the police registered the case under sections 419, 420, 468, 471, 506 and 34 of IPC against the father-son duo at the Kharvela Police Station and launched an investigation.
As per the complainant, Akash Kumar Pathak impersonated himself as Managing Director of Tata Motors Ltd and sent mails and other forged documents and booked chartered flights and hotels worth Rs 2.78 crore since June 2020. They paid total Rs 2.13 crore and refused to clear his dues and cheated him total amount Rs 65,16,233.
Prabhash Kumar further said when he refused to discontinue services, the father-son duo threatened him dire consequences.
